Feel Good Dance premiere’s ‘Fields of Joy’ this weekend at the Bath House!

20 01 2011

Hello all!

So, what a crazy preparation for this upcoming show! I started less than 6 weeks ago preparing for a quartet: the first group work that I would have choreographed after years of performing as a solo artist. However, somewhere along the way, life happened and I suddenly found myself preparing another new solo instead, ‘Fields of Joy’.

‘Fields of Joy’ was another completely inspired creation, born out of the necessity for something to perform this weekend at the Barefoot Brigade Dance Festival at the Bath House. : ) One inspired thing led to another and ultimately what you will experience is a dance about the contrasting depths of our emotional selves. ‘Fields of Joy’ honors all the experiences in between, in a 60s reminiscent haze of electric guitar and raw emotional dance. From the joy to the pain, ‘meet them each at the door, laughing, and invite them in’ writes Rumi in the opening video prologue to the dance.

So, I am super excited to be dancing to Lenny Kravitz…like how cool is that?! : ) And to getting to wear my super cool 60s, hippy, headband that I just made for Winter Solstice is also super exciting! You won’t want to miss this dance and a lot more amazing dance this weekend!

Sleeping alone… : )

6 11 2010
Hi Everyone!

This is one random and personal post considering I haven’t posted here in awhile. However, I always intend to post here more often AND I am all about being audaciously authentic…so here goes! : )

I just ran across this study regarding couples and #4 caught my eye.  And if you knew more about my life right now….geese louise, you’d know why I am fascinated with couples at the moment! : )

4. Do you and your spouse sleep in separate bedrooms?

Yes (13%)
No (87%)
A recent National Sleep Foundation study said one in four American couples sleep in separate bedrooms. The National Association of Homebuilders predicts 60 percent of custom-built homes will have two master suites by 2015.

Anyhow…my point!  I totally get this!! Uninterrupted sleep is important and I do not  I believe that I need to sleep with another human on a regular basis to have real intimacy.  I have, for years now, been saying how important it feels to me that when I live with someone again that I would like to have (at least separate bedrooms and BETTER YET) separate wings within the same home.  I just really enjoy my space that much!!! AND I enjoy the companionship of living with someone as well.  My friend Anne says and I agree, ‘Sometimes I don’t even want to hear another human breathe.’  I really LOVE my alone time.  AND I love the opportunity to come together with a lover in a delightful common space as well.  It is still a very new concept for me and it feels SO RIGHT! Although the percentages in the above study show that it isn’t very popular at the moment, the comment by the National Association of Homebuilders predicts that this is changing.  Cool…I am not alone and more folks like me are waking up…to sleeping alone!!! : )

Noon Moon Prosperity Ritual Fun….Join Me Tomorrow! : )

11 06 2010

I just came across this post that I am re-posting (with credit below)….It is a new moon ritual for prosperity!  Many of us have done this before and today it struck me as FUN to do again.  So, I plan to write my check tomorrow! : )  The new moon is a great opportunity to set new intentions. Thought you might want to join me!  Details below.

And…Sending you all LOVE, LOVE, LOVE!!!

Abundance Check Ritual for the New Moon

This ritual has been handed down through so many people that its origin has become unknown.

So What Is An Abundance Check?

Writing an Abundance Check is an exercise you can use to create more abundance in your life and the check is to be written within 24 hours after each New Moon.

It is not necessary to believe that the check will work when you write it and you may be surprised at the increased Abundance you find flowing into your life, whether it be financial or in other areas of your life.

It is best to follow the described procedure; however, if you do not have a checking account you may also draw a check on a piece of paper and fill it out the same way to receive the same results.

Follow these steps to write your Abundance checks WITHIN 24 HOURS AFTER A NEW MOON:

1. On your check where it says “Pay to,” write your name.

2. On the same line where you would fill in a dollar amount write “Paid in full.”

3. On the next line where you would write out a dollar amount, write “Paid in full.” [Some say it works better if you don't add the squiggly line.]

4. On the signature line, sign your check: “The Law of Abundance”

It is not necessary to put a date on the check and you DO NOT write a specific dollar amount on the check. Then put the check away in a safe place and forget about it. The Universe will take over from there. (ANGIE’S personal approach…I am writing a specific amount! WITH the intention of: THIS AMOUNT or SOMETHING BETTER!)

If you feel skeptical about the Abundance Check Exercise, just do it routinely every month for a while and see what happens! Enjoy the ritual!

OIL EATING MICROBES will HEAL the OIL SPILL!!!! Please Watch & Share PLEASE!

4 06 2010

Please watch this and share this!

As I see the ‘hard-to-look-at’ initial footage in this video, I consciously REMEMBER…

There is no spot where God is not.

It is all God and it is ALL Good.

And so, God is EVEN in this oil spill.

I absolutely know that this has a perfect purpose and will result in perfect outcomes.  I also know that the entire event will ultimately serve the Highest Good for Planet Earth, Humanity and beyond.  I know that the Gulf and all the connecting bodies of water and land will heal and recover completely and be renewed by this event. I wish peace and love for all of those involved or affected in any way.  I know that this will ultimately serve their Highest Good.

I am so grateful and peaceful to know this Truth and I release this knowing it is Good and Done!

And so it is.

Getting Real to Give Birth

31 05 2010

By Native American tradition, I am in the ‘Mother’ phase of my life. And yet, I am not a literal mother of human children at this time.  However, I am certainly am called to give birth to ‘Project Babies’ all the time and this is one of the ways that I am fulfilling this mothering nature that I do so strongly resonate with right now.

The collaboration that I did with Phase 2 Dance Ensemble is the most recent performance project that I have given birth to and it was quite the journey for me personally.  I really am looking, all the time, for healing/growth/expansion opportunities and I find them everywhere in life.  This project was no different.

I had just seen Amy Steinberg in concert at Center for Spiritual Living, Dallas. I shot video of the concert and was editing her footage just prior to working on this.  At the same time, I had started doing booking for Robin Hackett. So, I was listening to nothing but these two and inspired like crazy while I was listening.  It just made sense to marry the two and make a baby! : )  So, Kim Jackson of Phase 2 and I agreed that I would be setting the piece on their company.  I would also join the company to dance in some group sections. SUPER FUN!

My idea was to use the 45 min time slot that we had a the City Arts Festival to present an improvisational dance structure, around 35 min in length, using their music.  After much more listening to Robin Hackett and Amy Steinberg, I found a string of 8 songs that best fit a story that I could connect with personally.  Made sense to me! : ) So, I went ahead and started developing the improvisational structures for each section. My idea also included some sort of narration in between songs to tie things together, but I wasn’t clear about that yet. I just knew it would all work itself out.

This ‘knowing that it would work out’ process went on for a frighteningly long time.  I was going back and forth and back and forth about using all sorts of combinations of myself, friend Anne and Kim as the narration and nothing felt quite right….I couldn’t make the story work.  So, I went round and round.  As I went around again, I noticed a thought had come up again and it continued to come up again and again.  The thought was that I ‘shouldn’t dance at all and I should be the only narrator’. I had the thought very early on, but stuffed it quickly because I had a lot of resistance to ‘not dancing’. So, I quickly discounted the intuition and moved on to looking for the RIGHT answer.  : )

Five days before the performance I went to bed asking ‘What’s Up?  Am I suppose to dance or narrate or what???’  The next day I fell on the stairs and injured my tailbone and it became clear within the coming hours that I would not be dancing in four days.  I wasn’t even really sad.  I just got it finally.  And had to laugh. : )

So, what my intuition free flowed forth once I allowed myself to just narrate was that I should just simply be real!!! That I should tell the story of my own experiences that inspired me to string these songs together, sort of like snapshots from my life.  I decided to call it ‘Pictures of My Evolving Love’ and I took snapshots from my perspective on the stage. I was as excited as anybody to see how this improvisational dance would unfold within the boundaries I’d set! Super exciting fun!

Here is a look at the second section of the piece in a video.  The photos at the beginning at some of the shots I took from the stage. : ) MUSIC: ‘ Hitchhiker’  by Robin Hackett.

My Point: You don’t have to fall on your a$$ to ‘get real’! You could just listen the first 10 tens your intuition nudges you!!! : ) I swear to you that the day I injured my tailbone, I open my Florence Scovell-Shinn book to page 187 of her complete writings to find this quote:::: ‘ Misfortune is the result of our failure to stick to the things that Spirit has revealed through intuition. ~~Florence Scovell-Shinn

I wanna’ change the world…

30 05 2010

One centering breath at a time. One smile at a time. One loving action at a time.  And definitely, one dance at a time!

As a choreographer, I have always found myself makng dances about my experiences or the experience I was observing someone else having that affected me emotionally. I think that any artist who works in this way would agree that the process of creating a work about these experiences and releasing it for the world is a cathartic process.  For this reason, dancing and making dance is therapeutic for me. And I love that it can also be therapeutic for the audience as well.  I have been blessed to have audience feedback confirming this is true about my work in the past and I know it is my purpose for now and beyond!  (by the way: This is definitely true in the real, authentic practice of Authentic Movement, as the mover-observer relationship is an important part of the process.)

A few years ago, I had an intuition that I would be making dances again and that I would be inspired by and use the texts of folks like Florence Scovell- Shinn, John Randolph Price, Abraham-Hicks and such. However, I was heavily involved in another life at the time that didn’t have much room for dance. I kicked and screamed with resistance to allow my very nature to BE for several more years. Dramatic change would have to occur in order for me to be  the vision I had as my intuition.   And WOW! I am a Taurus and in the past that much change has literally felt like it might kill me. So, lots of baby steps is how I have arrived back home– to my purpose and full circle to my dance roots…THIS is where my spiritual journey has led me.  I am so grateful to be here and look forward to sharing more dance with the world!

Running across this video today reminded me of my purpose and that vision I had a few years back.  The video is from 1930 of Martha Graham.  She is briefly discussing how her piece, ‘Lamentation’ had an affect on one of her audience members and how gratifying and ‘deep’ that was to her! : )  I love it.  Anyhow, then you will see ‘Lamentation’.  Worth 5 minutes if you don’t mind being potentially inspired and moved! : ) Enjoy!

AND….In honor of Memorial Day, I would like to say how grateful I am to be an American and ALL the opportunity that this allows me. I am SO GRATEFUL to all the people who have made and continue to make this reality!

Today is MY BIRTHDAY!

29 04 2010

So, what a better day than today to start my blog anew?!

Up until now, I have used this blog to announce and promote events; Rarely have I used this blog  just to talk to you and share my innermost feelings and opinions about life and my journey.  In honor of the new beginnings of Spring and the new beginning of my life as symbolized by my birthday, I start this new way of ‘blog-being’ today!

I plan to share many parts of my life here including my personal dance/movement jouney and spiritual journey…often these two collide and I love this.  I will also share here my obsession with nature…in the many ways that this manifests…my obsession with New Thought music…my fascination and personal experience with spontaneous healing.  I will also unfold & share my creative projects here and anything else that excites me. I choose to make this a raw, authentic expression of all the rich, delicious, sacred moments that life brings me.  And a venue to celebrates all that lights my fire and intensifies my passion for becoming Greater! : )

It absolutley ‘means the world to me’ that you are reading this!  So, I want to share a song from New Thought singer/songwriter, Amy Steinberg called ‘You Mean The World To Me’. I was so grateful to meet her recently at the Mystic Note Cafe, an event co-sponsored by Center for Spiritual Living Dallas and MoveStudio. Meeting her and experiencing her music was absolutely shifting for me.  She is so inspiring to me…reminds me to keep my fire lit and keep on toward my purpose! Enjoy this song!
